Course Learning Objectives/Outcomes

By the end of the course, the Counselor, Marriage and Family Therapist, Social Worker or Psychologist will be able to:
-Name two symptoms of PTSD.
-Explain the relation of posttraumatic stress disorder in depression.
-Identify four losses trauma survivors may face.
-Name four interventions for victims of violent crimes.
-Identify seven ways of helping trauma victims in expressing their emotions and feelings.
-Discuss grief and guilt in posttraumatic stress disorder.
-Explain what a certified counselor must do when a client’s condition indicates that there is a clear and imminent danger to the client or others.
-Explain four major symptom categories that are the same for PTSD as for STSD.
-Explain an example of Personal Growth Funnel.
-Explain the three phases of the Stockholm Syndrome
-Explain how can a hostage lessen the aggression of a captor.
